What do you get when you mix chocolate and wine? In the case of Clean Solar, Inc., you get solar. Silicon Valley Entrepreneur, Randy Zechman, is the founder City Chocolate Fountains (source of chocolate in the largest rental company in the U.S.). Jeff Ritchey is a San Jose native and wine guru. He is a Wine Cellar Consultant for Pichetti, producer of San Saba, and two of his own labeled wines. Together they are co-founders of Clean Solar, a Silicon Valley Solar installer and integrator.
Randy Zechman readily admit it is a serial entrepreneur. A little over a year with two successful companies in his portfolio: Sources of Chocolate City and the World 2 Do, Inc., Zechman was ready for a new challenge. Zechman and friend of eight years, Jeff Ritchey, an award-Winning producer, regularly attended a series of Bay Area monthly conference with a group of friends. After each speaker at a local restaurant would end the debate on the subject of this evening's speech, global warming and the health of the land have often been the focus of these discussions, which led to the hearing Al Gore speak on the State of the Valley Conference in early 2007.
After to see Al Gore talking about solutions for protecting our planet, Zechman began researching the solar energy industry. Ritchey, while continuing grow his label, Sensorium Wines, was also increased interest in the green movement, realizing that green technology is a perfect complement to your knowledge in geology, winemaking and construction.
Zechman knew that scientists and building designs that Ritchey could bring to the table is the perfect complement to its business and marketing skills, which led him to approach Ritchey about starting an energy company solar.
Zechman and Ritchey met weekly for 6 months, discussing the departures In and enterprise and ensure that their ambitions are not in the way of their friendship. "We've had a heart to heart with regard to our friendship versus business. All two thought that manage both and that our friendship does not stand on the road. "Zechman said.
"We were friends for eight years and never thought to go into business with others, but the timing was right. With the anticipation of market, our passion to do something good, Randy sales and marketing experience and my technical skills and building thought it was a natural choice. "Says Ritchey.
Clean Solar Inc. quickly became a reality and is now the main business of Bay Area installation Solar. The fuel for the growth of its business is in the form of state subsidies through the year 10, $ 3.4 billion California Solar Initiative.
