Like all market segments of U.S. residential construction materials, the production of rigid PVC fencing and the reduction product covered last year's level. But they have not fallen as much as other PVC building products such as pipes, siding and window profiles. Calculations based on fences and flooring companies reveal that the production rate is 5% this year. But our indicators show that the production of PVC pipes has been reduced by 18% while the vinyl siding and window profiles are off about 8%.

As if reduced demand was not bad enough, the providers of all types of plastic products have been faced with the rapid escalation of resin and energy prices. The rising energy prices and other commodities has undoubtedly had a negative effect on construction activity, but the good news is that the remedy for this problem seems to have emerged already. Oil prices have reached a peak in mid 2007 and since then, the dominant trend is downward. This is mainly the declining demand. The hurricane season and continued geopolitical uncertainty resins prevent energy (y), prices fall as fast as we would like but the reduction in the consumption trend continues. This suggests falling prices of crude oil and natural gas until 2009 and beyond, and lower prices for the resin as well.
In summary, the prospects for manufacturers of PVC fencing products are brought to little change in market conditions for the remainder of 2008 and early 2009. In 2009 progresses, the resin and energy prices will gradually diminish, but will likely remain at a sufficiently high to maintain the momentum towards greater efficiency and "green" products. All this will pave the way for a return to strong growth in demand for all types of construction products rigid PVC in 2009, and the fence and the segment will continue to outpace the established product segments.
